Pitso Mosimane has finally got a new assistant after Cavin Johnson had left the club at the end of last season.
The Egyptian giants have appointed former player Ashraf Awad as Mosimane’s right-hand man, they confirmed after a board of director’s meeting on Tuesday.
“The board approved on appointing Ashraf Awad, former Al Ahly player, as the first team’s assistant coach,” the club said in a statement.
Mosimane had brought Johnson to Cairo in 2020 but he left the club earlier in the year together with analyst Yusha Said.
The latter had already been replaced by former Orlando Pirates analyst Kyle Solomon, who joined the club in the beginning of October.
With the appointment of Awad, Mosimane’s technical team for the 2021/22 campaign seems to be complete.
Al Ahly kick off their Egyptian Premier League season against Ismaily this evening, when Percy Tau could make his long-awaited debut after being included in the match day squad.
