Al Ahly’s management around president Mahmoud El Khatib have sent an official letter to their CAF Champions League semi-final opponents ES Setif, thanking them for their hospitality in Algeria.
The Algerian side hosted the reigning CAF Champions League winners in Algeria for the second leg of their semi-final and did manage to hold them to a 2-2 draw at home.
However, they were eliminated 6-2 on aggregate after losing the first leg 4-0, when South African winger netted a brace and assisted two more goals.
Al Ahly, though, have seemingly been left impressed with the way their Algerian hosts catered for them throughout their trip.
“Al Ahly SC sent an official letter on Monday to the board of ES Setif and the Algerian Football Federation (AFF), expressing the club’s gratitude to the Algerian people and football fans in Algeria for their generous hospitality and the sportsmanship that was displayed during Al Ahly’s game against ES Setif on Saturday,” Al Ahly said in a statement.
“Al Ahly wishes the best for ES Setif and everyone associated with football in Algeria in the future.”
This comes after Setif head coach Darko Novic also came into the dressing room after the match to wish coach Pitso Mosimane his team good luck in their third successive final.
