Baxter Explains Lack Of Rotation

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has explained his lack of rotation, in particular among his attacking players – saying Amakhosi’s front-three could be the best in the country.

The Englishman saw his side collect a goalless draw against Cape Town City on Tuesday evening, which was enough for the Glamour Boys to climb into third spot on the log.

However, Chiefs didn’t have a single shot on target against City and have now failed to score in three of their last four games, with Baxter being asked if he needs to mix things up.

“I think our front-three on their day could be the best in the country,” he told SuperSport TV

“I think they’re so lively and their movement when they’re on song is very difficult to deal with. When we play like today, I didn’t think we had enough movement around them.

“So the ball went to Khama for example, there centre-back could stay very tight because he saw no movement around them.

“Personally, I’m not one of those who rotate the squad just because you have players. I think they should earn the right to get in and I think they should play better than the ones that are playing.

“I don’t think that are front-three are playing poorly, I don’t think we’re giving them enough support – in terms of quality service and in terms of what’s happening around them.

“But at some point when you’re not scoring goals, even good players need a rest.”
