Royal AM is slowly getting back to where they should be, according to coach John Maduka.
The KwaZulu-Natal club showed good spirit as they held SuperSport United at Chatsworth Stadium last week Saturday in what was a rainy day which disrupted the flow of the game.
Following the draw, Royal AM remained ninth in the DStv Premiership standings with 25 pints after 20 matches.
Before this game, Royal AM eliminated Cape Town City in the Nedbank Cup in the first hurdle, in what was Maduka’s first back on the sidelines.
Against SuperSport, Royal AM showed the good spirit of last season under Maduka, unable to be broken down even though the visitors were on top of them, and this was echoed by Maduka afterwards.
“We are getting better and better,” said Maduka, whose next task is when they visit AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday (20:00).
“But we take one game at a time. You must remember that, as much as I was with the team last season, there are a couple of things that the team has changed in terms of play.
“But I will try to bring the football that we used to play last season so that we can be able to create chances.
“Against SuperSport you could see that and you could see also that against Cape Town City, though not many [chances] of them. But we are getting better each game that comes.”
Maduka led Royal AM, after boss Shauwn Mkhize had purchased the status of Bloemfontein Celtic to form the club, to third spot last term to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.
His side were a tough side to be broken down at home, losing only two matches in the entire season, and reaching the Nedbank Cup semi final in the process.
