Motsepe Foundation Championship Round-Up

It’s becoming a three-horse race at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship with leaders Casric Stars, one point ahead of Polokwane City and Cape Town Spurs.

After 20 matches, they are the three teams who’ve passed the 40-point mark, with Hungry Lions, who beat Polokwane, now in fourth place six points further back with 34 points.

On Friday afternoon Platinum City Rovers picked up a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Uthongathi, which moves Rovers further away from the relegation battle.

On Saturday, Casric Stars moved back to the top with a 2-1 victory over JDR Stars. It sees them go one point ahead of Spurs and Polokwane

Meanwhile, Ashley Cupido grabbed a brace at the Athlone Stadium as Spurs beat bottom-placed Black Leopards 2-1, as Shaun Bartlett’s team continues their great run of form.

La Masia and Tshakhuma ended goalless, while Baroka won 2-1 against AmaTuks.

All Stars scored three points on the road with a 1-0 victory against Venda Football Academy.

On Sunday Pretoria Callies continued their excellent form in 2023 as they won 2-1 away against Magesi.

Finally Lions picked up a 2-1 win over Polokwane, who are now one point behind leaders Casric, and level with Spurs.
