Kaizer Chiefs‘ Carling Knockout Cup clash with Siwelele FC has been moved to a later kick off time, it was confirmed on Thursday.

Amakhosi were set to host Siwelele at 15:00 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, but that kick off time clashed the CAF Super Cup clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and USM Alger.

On Thursday, during the Carling Knockout Cup press conferences it was confirmed that Chiefs’ match has been moved to a 18:00 kick off, and the Premier Soccer League also explained the decision.

“The Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final match between Kaizer Chiefs and Siwelele FC has been rescheduled, with kick-off moved from 15h00 to 18h00,” read a statement.

“The adjustment has been made in consideration of Sunday’s CAF Super Cup fixture involving
Mamelodi Sundowns. Consequently, both farling Knockout Cup quarter-final matches scheduled for Sunday will now kick off at 18h00.

“The PSL wishes Mamelodi Sundowns all the best as they compete for CAF Super Cup honours and extends its best wishes to all eight teams competing in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals.”

Chiefs enter the game after their 2-1 Soweto Derby defeat but had made light work of TS Galaxy in the previous Carling Knockout round, beating them 3-0.

Siwelele, meanwhile, eliminated Polokwane City 4-3 on penalties, but coudn’t carry their momentum into their next Betway Premiership fixture, losing 3-2 to Marumo Gallants.
