Zwane Responds To Msimango Rumours

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has responded to rumours about the signing of TS Galaxy captain Given Msimango, saying he will neither confirm nor deny the transfer talk.

The 25-year-old was already heavily linked with Chiefs ahead of the current campaign following a good 2021/22 season with Galaxy but he somewhat silenced the rumours after agreeing on extending his stay with Siyadumza.

But Amakhosi are understood to have signed the Galaxy defender ahead of the 2023/24 season, as reported by SABC Sport, who stated he is believed to have penned a four-year deal and is set to move to Naturena from 1 July.

With no public statement from either club on the rumours so far, iDiski Times journalist Lorenz Kohler asked Zwane about the potential arrival of the highly-rated defender during the club’s media day on Thursday.

“We have identified players, we have identified players and we’ll keep on trying our level best to bring in players that we think will add value to the club,” he replied.

“And yes, at the moment I’m not at liberty to divulge any information until the club makes that announcement.”

When asked whether he’s neither confirming nor denying the rumours, he responded with a “yes, sir” and a grin on his face.

Msimango has featured over 90 minutes in every game for Sead Ramovic this season, helping the club to boast the second-best defence in the DStv Premiership with just 12 goals conceded – three more than Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Rockets have climbed into seventh place following a recent upswing in results that saw them pick up three wins and two draws in the league. They will return to action on Sunday when they will host Maritzburg United.
