Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena says Gaston Sirino potentially representing the South Africa national team shouldn’t even be a discussion.

Sirino, 32, is eligible to represent Bafana Bafana after spending more than five years in the country and while Pitso Mosimane previously stated he would be a valuable addition some years ago – the debate has come to the fore again as he’s officially able to switch his allegiance.

The Uruguayan playmaker, who returned to the Masandawana team on Sunday in the 0-0 draw against Swallows stated he would love to don the national team colours, if Hugo Broos ever called-up him up and when iDiski Times probed Mokwena if he could be an asset, he agreed to the notion.

“If he has the thing [papers] and everything possible, I think he can add value, of course, fortunately, I don’t select the national team,” Mokwena said at Dobsonville Stadium.

“It’s the hardest thing, there’s so many good players in this country, so I don’t even if there’s a good player available there shouldn’t even be a discussion.”

Sirino has won nine trophies since his arrival at the club, including six league titles while scoring 36 goals and registering 41 assists in 170 games across all competitions.
