Bimenyimana Secures New Club After Chiefs Exit

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils Caleb Bimenyimana has agreed terms with Libyan giants Al Ahly Benghazi.

Bimenyimana has endured a turbulent off-season after being transfer-listed at Chiefs, from jetting up to Casablanca to join Wydad Atheltic Club, the deal called off, returning to South Africa and then parting ways via mutual consent shortly after.

Interest was brewing in Ukraine, Poland and Turkey but with no concrete offers forthcoming, this website understands the Burundi international has accepted a lucrative offer to join the Libyan club with a total package that could reach as high as R6 million.

After several days of negotiations, as reported in Edition 119, which took place in Tunisia this week, the 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal in the presence of CEO Fathi Al Jali ahead of his official unveiling.

The club have managed to register him in time for the Libyan Premier League but likely not for their upcoming CAF Champions League qualifier against ASEC Mimosas.

Bimenyimana scored eight goals and registered one assist in 21 games during his solitary season at Chiefs.
