Al Ahly Release Statement Ahead Of Downs Clash

Al Ahly have released a statement to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on refereeing errors in their games in CAF competitions, including the African Football League semi-final first leg against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Masandawana won 1-0 thanks to Thapelo Maseko’s second-half goal and carry their one-goal advantage into the second leg in Cairo on Wednesday.

However, Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller was not happy after the match and lamented that his side didn’t receive a late penalty – or at least that the incident was seemingly not taken to VAR.

On Monday evening, Al Ahly released a statement, confirming they have sent a letter to CAF over the performances of the match officials in three recent matches – in their AFL game at Sundowns, but also in their recent CAF Super Cup defeat to USM Alger as well as in AFL quarter-final against Simba.
