DDC Returns With Top Of The Table Clash

After over a month of break, the DStv Diski Challenge will make a return this afternoon with three match days left before the first round comes to an end.

It’s been a rollercoaster at the top where Mamelodi Sundowns are sitting pretty after losing only one game in the 12 matches they’ve played. Sinethemba Badela, who’s the head coach of the side, aims to clinch the title in his first season.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates are breathing right behind Downs with just one point behind them. Joseph Makhanya aims to clinch their first ever league title and hopes the experience of Jabulani Mokone will come in handy.

Things are not the same for the other Soweto sides, with Kaizer Chiefs seven points behind Downs. They seem to have lost pace a bit after losing their top talents Omega Mdaka and Puso Dithejane. Head coach Vela Khumalo hopes the likes of Neo Bohloko come to the part and help the side to climb up the table.

Cape Town City, Stellenbosch FC and Cape Town Spurs remain the dark horses in the title race. The quality City side with the likes of Aviwe Ndevu, Xhosa Manyana, Gabriel Amato are expected to raise the bar when the league resumes this weekend.

Mervin Boji is expected to lead the frontline of Stellies and he is carrying the hopes of the Winelands side. Cape Town Spurs might have a chance to let young Luke Baartman play and help them go up the table.

Round 13 of the DDC will kickoff this afternoon with some interesting fixtures, which includes first place versus second place on Sunday. Tsakane Stadium will be hosting the festival.

  • Kaizer Chiefs vs Chippa United
