Kaizer Chiefs caretaker coach Cavin Johnson has responded to questions whether attacking midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is as fit as he should be.
Ngcobo, 24, has started all league games since Johnson took over but finished the 90 minutes in none of 10 appearances this campaign.
He has also only scored one goal in 2023/24 so far, a 1-0 winner against Richards Bay, and more is expected from one of the fan favourites at the club, who does look a bit heavy on the eye.
“Nope, I don’t think Mshini is overweight, I think he’s fine,” Johnson said of Mshini, who recently penned a new two-year deal.
“He might look overweight but I can tell you we have people who’re looking at all these things and none of these players are overweight.
“We have one of the best fitness centres in the country, best fitness measures in the country and when you do those things everything comes out perfect.
“If I’m telling you you look fat, but you’re not fat, you look normal, you understand what I’m saying.
“Who are we as outside people to decide whether a person is fat or not. Do I look fat or overweight?”
Chiefs dropped points again Saturday, drawing 0-0 with struggling Moroka Swallows, meaning they are yet to score in 2024.
