Cape Town Spurs head coach Ernst Middendorp has kept his cards close to his chest when asked about the preparations for the Orlando Pirates match.
Spurs registered their third league win of the season, sinking high flying TS Galaxy 2-0 at Athlone Stadium on Sunday.
The Urban Warriors are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, as they moved three points behind 15th-placed Richards Bay.
Middendorp, though, didn’t want to give too much detail for the Pirates clash, but mentioned that one more rest day is an advantage for the Buccaneers, who played on Saturday afternoon.
“Let’s go there and try to do the best in the moment, of course we prepared, of course we watched the game,” Middendorp said when asked about Pirates.
“I will start now preparing myself, a day more means a lot in this time to have a day more as recovery, we have to work good now, for example the nutrition inside the dressing room already, the ice bath, you can’t do anything really.
“In the moment we have to hope Luvuyo [Phewa], Asanele [Velebayi], Liam [Bern], Chumani [Butsaka] will recover. It’s difficult somehow but we will try to get a certain formation into a certain concept and then we wait and see.
“We have to decide, Michael Morton for example replacing Katlego [Maphathe] in a one to one, Katlego is clear, I said fantastic player, fantastic work [for] 60 minutes, 70 minutes probably you started the other one and you bring this one.
“We have to decide, I don’t want to break it, we definitely keep our basic fundamentals right.”
Morton is suspended for the game after an accumulation of yellow cards. Spurs did, however, recently announce the signing of Denwin Farmer, as was reported in this week’s edition of iDiski Times.
