Maswanganyi On Chaine And Soweto Derby Goal

Orlando Pirates playmaker Patrick Maswanganyi has defended Sipho Chaine and opened up on his goal after their 1-1 draw against Moroka Swallows in Soweto Derby.

Maswanganyi, 25, scored the equaliser for Pirates in a game they dominated and perhaps were hard done by over some refereeing decisions.

They were made to grind for the point at the end after Lindokuhle Mtshali opened the scoring before the half-hour mark after mistakes from Chaine and some lax defending by Nkosanathi Sibisi, who was also sent off for dissent in injury time.

“Yeah I think it’s a mistake we made as a team, we can’t blame it on one person, because we’re a team,” Mawanaganyi said to SuperSport TV.

“So we’re fighting for each other and try to make sure we win the next game.”

On his goal that took his overall tally to 13 goal contributions in 30 games in his debut season at the club since joining from SuperSport United: “I think I was praying for him [Thabiso Lebitso] to play the ball there so I can score.

“So I think it’s a very good goal for me and it managed to help the team get a point today.”
