Germany Announce EURO Squad

Germany have announced their 27-man preliminary squad for the UEFA European Championship next month in Germany.

The 2024 EURO will kick off on 14 June and last for a month until 14 July, with Germany hosting the tournament for a second time.

Julian Nagelsmann, who took over in September 2023, called up 27 names, which means he will still need to cut one player from his list.

Bayern Munich has with six players the most in the squad, namely: Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller.

Newly-crowned Bundesliga champions, Bayer Leverkusen have three players in the squad with Jonathan Tah, Robert Andrich and Florian Wirtz.

Germany have been drawn in Group A, alongside Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland and will kick off the tournament on 14 June against Scotland.

However, there were also a few notable absentees like Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, as well as his teammates Julian Brandt, Emre Can, Niklas Sule and Karim Adeyemi.

In addition, Bayern duo Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry were also not called up.
