Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung says they will ‘deliver’ for the fans with their new kit today, and expressed excitement over their inaugural Toyota Cup.
Motaung arrived with the Chiefs squad and new technical team led by head coach Nassredine Nabi on Wednesday after three weeks in Turkey.
They arrive with a jam-packed schedule in the form of their 2024/25 kit launch on Thursday at the Village, before Nabi’s first press conference in South Africa ahead of the Toyota Cup clash against his former club Young Africans on Sunday.
“I’m excited about the new kit and I’m saying to our supporters watch this space, it’s going to be a big day, and we always deliver, I’m looking forward to them really embracing it, wearing it with pride and really supporting the team, it’s a big day,” Motaung told iDiski Times.
It will be a rare occasion for Chiefs to be playing in the Free State at the Toyota Stadium, with the club not having a professional football team in the region in recent years, which was a key decision to take the game to Bloemfontein.
The same venue was packed for the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as Bafana Bafana beat Zimbabwe 3-1, re-emphasising the sheer desire for high-profile fixtures to be brought to the province.
“We’re excited about the inaugural Toyota Cup, we’ve worked extensively with our sponsors and are excited for the coach, it will be interesting for him to play his former team as well,” she added.
“I must say it’s quite a showpiece, we’re excited to go to Bloem! We’re honouring what Bloem has done for football and saying to our supporters, come out and have a great time.
“It gives the team a great game to leverage and make sure we’re prepared for the season, so I’m hoping our supporters are there to have a good time, and thank for Tpyota and all our sponsors for making it happen.”
Amakhosi take on Yanga on Sunday afternoon at 15h00 at the Toyota Stadium.
