Carling Cup Details Revealed

With the Carling Knockout and the Carling Black Label Cup going into their second season, here are all the details around the two competitions, including the whopping Man of the Match price money.

The two competitions are closely interlinked and will again run after another, with the 16 Betway Premiership teams facing each other in the Carling Knockout Cup, which kicks off on the weekend of 19 October with the Last 16 (exact dates yet to be confirmed).

Once the winner of the Carling Knockout has been played out, they will then face a team of the Carling All Stars in an exhibition match – with last year’s Carling XI beating the inaugural Carling Knockout champions Stellenbosch FC.

The Carling All Stars will be a mix of Betway Premiership players and DStv Diski Challenge players as voted for by the fans to make up a squad of 23 players.

Carling Black Label again have various ways and means for players and fans to make some extra cash, with this year’s Man of the Match again being awarded a whopping R100.000 per game. The Man of the Match is voted for by fans throughout the gme.

The Fak’ iGoal Uzobona part of the campaign has also stayed and every match R90.000 are up for grabs. Fans must vote for which team will score the first goal and in which minute. They will then get an amount of R90.000 minus the minute in which the goal was scored (example: goal in the 13th minute, R77.000 price money). A selected fan as well as the player who scores will get the same amount of money.

The Carling Black Label Cup will be played on 21 December at Orlando Stadium, and votes for the Carling All Star XI are open from today, Tuesday (8 October).
