Kemiso’s Plea To Chiefs Squad

Kaizer Chiefs winning a trophy this season is imperative for their Chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung Sr, according to his daughter, Kemiso.

Chiefs are currently a decade into the worst trophy drought since the club was formed over 50 years ago by their iconic leader.

Their rebuilding project since he moved away from being completely hands-on in the day-to-day running of the club has not yielded fruits and the 2023/24 season was an all-time low, having finished 10th in the league.

But the arrival of Nasreddine Nabi and his technical team, added to some astute off-season signings has brought hope once more to those associated with Amakhosi.

“A win is something important, the Chairman has been looking for trophies for the past ten years, it’s about time now, I think these guys understand and if they don’t, they should, they not only owe the Chairman, but the supporters too, we owe the Chairman,” Motaung said about the Carling Knockout Cup competition.

“It would be wonderful… we have the right technical team, amazing technical staff. We have great players, there’s a great environment here, there’s great facilities built by our Chairman.

“You can’t do anything else but give back and really succeed, that’s all the Chairman wants, it’s a success, we must give him that.”

Since the appointment of Nabi alongside Khalil Ben Yousef, Majdi Safi, Ilyez Mzoughi and now Cedric Kaze, who replaced Fernando da Cruz, there’s been a notable improvement in playing style and performances.

It’s early days, but two wins in the league out of three games, the 4-0 drubbing of SuperSport United has offered signs of a turn of the corner, despite losing 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium before the FIFA international break.

Nabi has insisted that the rebuild he’s embarking on, can’t start without a severe desire to win at all costs, as he looks to build the foundation for the revival of the Soweto giants.

“We do have [the right technical team], the best from North Africa, we have great analysts, an amazing goalkeeper coach also from North Africa,” she stated.

“Kaizer [Motaung Jr.] has done a really good job in bringing a team that have arsenal, that have a brain and mind to understand success, to actualise it, these people are proper, they are the real deal.”

Chiefs lost 1-0 to SuperSport in their Betway Premiership tie at the weekend but will look to bounce back to winning ways when they take on newcomers Magesi FC on Wednesday evening, with the match set for a 19:30 kick-off.
