Mngqithi Reacts To Holding Downs

New Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has reacted to holding his former side to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

Abafana Bes’thende stopped Sundowns’ five-match winning run, with Mngqithi on the sidelines for the first time since leaving Masandawana in December.

Sundowns dropped points for the first time after five successive wins, while Arrows remain winless in their last six games.

After the match, Mngqithi was elated with his side’s performance, saying if they had been more clinical in the end they could’ve even won the game.

“I would not be too sure whether a draw is a true reflection of the game,” he told SuperSport TV.

“The only thing I know is we showed up, we gave our best shot. We got some nice breaks at the end which could’ve decided the result.

“But unfortunately the decision-making, the technique and all those things [let us down].

“To be honest, I think we gave a very good contest to the spectators. I’m sure the supporters enjoyed a game good of football and for me that’s what matters the most.”

The result saw Arrows stay in 11th spot with 21 points from 17 games, while Sundowns stayed at the top with now 55 points from 21 games but their gap on Orlando Pirates melted to 16 points.
