Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has shrugged off notions that they are under pressure to win the Nedbank Cup as they are still in a rebuilding process.
Chiefs haven’t won a trophy in the past 10 seasons and got close to silverware on two occasions. In 2019 when they lost the Nedbank final against TS Galaxy and in 2021 when they lost the CAF Champions League final against Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC.

With the cup of dreams the only trophy left for them this season to fight for and end their trophy drought, Nabi believes that they are not under pressure to win the semis against Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday because they are still in the building phase.
“I can answer you there’s no pressure, each game we play there is pressure inside, but for me I came here like I said before to repeat the process,” Nabi told the media.
“The first year is for the process. We are here to build our team but when we get an opportunity like this to be in the semi-final we try to win this trophy for the fans, for the board.
“We try to play to win the trophy because we are a big team – Kaizer Chiefs, so every season every competition we play you have to, but like I said, there’s no pressure inside we are still under process. I think when we discussed with the board, we said we said in process for two or three years to build our team after the three years then we can play the African Cup and for the league and for each competition to win.
“Now, we are in the process but if we get the opportunity to win this trophy we will play to win this trophy, if we win this trophy it will be amazing for us and it will give us more confidence to play for the board, for the fans, for the team, for the players and us also as technical stuff but if we don’t win this trophy we have to continue to work.”
