Official: Chiefs Captain Maart Completes Euro Transfer

Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart has completed his transfer to Austrian Bundesliga side SV Ried ahead of the 2025/26 season.

In a surprising turn of events, after committing to a new two-year deal, the midfielder, who turns 30 this week, has completed a dream move to Europe with the newly promoted Austrian top-flight outfit.

Maart was close to making a return to Sekhukhune with his contract due to expire this month, but was convinced to continue at Chiefs, with the technical team holding belief that he can remain an important part of their squad.

However, with an offer for the player to move abroad, and a club-to-club agreement reached, Maart has ended his three-year spell at Amakhosi, joining the likes of Siyabonga Ngezana and Njabulo Blom, to earn moves outside the country in recent times.

“Midfielder Yusuf Maart has left Amakhosi to join newly-promoted Austrian Football Bundesliga outfit, SV Ried,” Chiefs stated.

“The Club appreciates Maart’s contribution and wishes him well in this new chapter in his career.”

He racked up 95 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals, with eight assists, including the match winning Soweto Derby strike, which ended their decade-long trophy drought by lifting the Nedbank Cup title this past season.
