Nkota Opens Up On Pirates Exit

Outgoing Orlando Pirates winger Mohau Nkota says it will not be easy for him to leave the club as his imminent move to Saudi Arabia looms.

Pirates released a statement this past weekend confirming that Nkota has signed a three-year deal with Saudi Pro league outfit Al-Ettifaq pending personal terms and medicals.

The 20-year-old has spent just a single season with the Buccaneers first team having been promoted from the development ranks.

He featured 39 times for Pirates in all competitions and scored seven goals, three in the Betway Premiership and four in the CAF Champions league.

The Kimberley-born winger spoke to Michael Morton on Mike Morton Talks Football from Pirates preseason camp in Europe.

“I think moving from this club for me it’s not easy, because I grew up here,” said Nkota.

“And I learned a lot of stuff from the team. So, for me it was to get to the higher stage and experience more and expose myself.”

Nkota added that he feels special to be the first and youngest South African player to move to the Saudi league.

“For me, I feel so special,” added the Bafana international.

“And I don’t think for me there’s pressure on me to go there and work. Just go there, to live the life, work and be the person I am, just do what I’ve been doing and I’m also happy for the move to Saudi as the youngest player.”
