Sekhukhune United Chairman Simon Malatji has confirmed the club received offers from Europe for Bafana Bafana left-back Vuyo Letlapa.
Letlapa, 21, enjoyed an impressive debut season in the top-flight after the club lured him from ABC Motsepe League side Jomo Cosmos, where their legendary owner stated prior to his transfer – that he is destined for Europe.
He went on to feature in 27 games for the club, with five assists to his name and went on to break into the senior South Africa set-up with call-ups for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho and starred in the Cosafa Cup.
He’s since been subject of interest from Austria Vienna – which the club has rebuffed after opening approaches for the powerful full-back.
“Yes, offers came forth but we realised he needs to remain… either next [until] season, or now [this season] so he can be better quality,” he said.
“We will always heed our call to make sure anyone, who wants to grow, needs to be given opportunity so that tomorrow, he as well knows, when he goes that side, we need to make sure we as blacks grow.”
