Stanic – Why I Left Malta To Join Stellies

Stellenbosch FC‘s newest acquisition Henri Stanic has broken his silence on how the club’s project persuaded him to ditch Malta for the Western Cape.

The 22-year-old towering defender was recruited from Maltese Premier League outfit Balzan Football Club as a direct replacement for Ismaël Touré who permanently completed a switch to UAE Pro League side Baniyas.

Speaking from the club’s pre-season camp in Johannesburg, the Belgian centre-back expressed being excited at joining his new club as well as looking forward to the new campaign ahead.

“I’m very grateful and excited to be here,” Stanic said according to the club’s website.

“The team has already welcomed me very well, and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.

“The project at Stellenbosch FC is what attracted me to come to South Africa. I spoke to several people at the club, and I really like the project that is being worked on.

“I’m also looking forward to playing in the domestic championship [the Betway Premiership] and to showcasing my talent in the country.

“I will fight for the badge and give 100% for the team. I am still young, and I have ambitions that I hope to achieve with the club.

“It will also be my first time playing in a big competition like the CAF Confederation Cup. Last season, Stellenbosch reached the semi-finals, and I believe we can do even better this time around.”
