Hunt Confirms Offer For Lepasa

Durban City head coach Gavin Hunt has suggested they probably need to move on from Zakhele Lepasa after tabling an offer for his services.

Lepasa, 28, is currently a free agent after parting ways with his boyhood club Orlando Pirates in the off-season but is on international duty for Bafana Bafana at the African Nations Championship in East Africa.

He worked under Hunt during a six-month loan at SuperSport United, where he rediscovered his form that then earned him a place in the senior national team under Hugo Broos before firing the country to the Africa Cup of Nations and formed part of the team that finished third in Ivory Coast.

However, injuries curtailed his rise with club and country and he didn’t feature in a single game last season before his eventual exit at the Soweto giants.

“Yeah, it’s someone we approached, but obviously… I think he has other ideas, the boy… so we haven’t heard from him, so we [probably] have to move on, it’s one of those things,” he said when asked by iDiski Times about their approach of Lepasa.

Lepasa will be aiming to make an impression on Friday when South Africa open their CHAN campiagn at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, where they face off against Algeria.
