Chiefs Set For Next Signing After DRC Ruling

Kaizer Chiefs are set to sign Luke Baartman after the Premier Soccer League Dispute Resolution Chamber declared him a free agent.

Baartman, similar to Asanele Velebayi, took his case to the DRC after CT Spurs had argued the players had existing contracts despite the club’s relegation to the ABC Motsepe League, which falls out of the jurisdiction of the PSL and thus amateur status.

But, as previously reported by iDiski Times, Baartman – like Velebayi before – has received his clearance upon his request to the league and the South African Football Association (SAFA).

The ruling has paved the way for Baartman’s move to Amakhosi, and he is expected to officially join the club this week after being declared a free agent.

Baartman made his debut for Spurs in a Carling Knockout clash against Orlando Pirates on 30 October 2023 – coincidently he scored his first senior goal against Chiefs on 8 November 2023.
