Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung says the club has showed their commitment and backing of coach Nasreddine Nabi by getting him the best players they could this season.
Amakhosi have so far signed 11 players with Khanyiso Mayo being the latest acquisition who was confirmed by the club on Friday. Under Nabi, Chiefs were able to break a 10-year trophy drought winning the Nedbank Cup last season. They have also enjoyed a flying start to the current Betway Premiership term, being one of only two sides yet to lose this season and the only one with a perfect defensive record so far.
The Naturena-based outfit are currently second on the league log tied on 13 points with Sekhukhune United in first place and Motaung says they are building an enduring team for any coach, but they expect Nabi to deliver with what they have acquired for him.
“The team is committed to making sure that we have the best players, whatever coach we have,” said Motaung.
“We are here to build a team that’s going to last for Kaizer Chiefs. Obviously, the coach is here to do his job. We’re giving him the tools to do the job, and we expect him to deliver.”
Meanwhile, Motaung added that she is happy to see the club’s supporters voting with their feet and filling stadiums this season which was also evident in the 70,000 sold-out match against Mamelodi Sundowns last month.
“I think it speaks to what the brand is about,” added Motaung.
“Definitely speaks to what the brand is about obviously, winning adds to it and it was great to see the stadium filled at 70,000 capacity. In fact, we had to stop selling tickets, so we were in a full house on a Wednesday night. But we’ve seen it with the team filling the stadium, playing against Sundowns, playing against [Orlando] Pirates and other teams.
“But certainly, the mood is high, and supporters are really voting with their feet and coming into the stadium and filling the stadium.”
