Mohafe – How We Have Filled The Appollis Void

Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe is confident that he has been able to fill the void left by former winger Oswin Appollis with players who aren’t one dimensional.

Appollis spent two seasons with Rise and Shine where he was the star player helping more in attack and helping the side to finish in the top 8. He joined Orlando Pirates at the start of the season with his impact seen to be missed.

With Monday being transfer window deadline day, Mohafe said there won’t be any surprise announcements from his side in his knowledge while also adding that the Bafana international’s replacements also offer a defensive element.

“I think so [filled the void] because when you check the players who are playing on that position, they are giving us two dimensions and that is attack and defend,” said Mohafe after City’s 2-1 win over Chippa United.

“When we need them to defend, they do when we need them to attack, they do. So, with Appollis it was we banked more on him as an offensive player.

“”So, he helped us offensively. He created a lot of goal scoring opportunities for us. But with the breed that we have now is the breed that is having the endurance to do both defensive duties and attacking duties.”
