Marumo Gallants star Phillip Ndlondlo has predicted a bright future for the club under the youngest head coach in the PSL, Alexandre Lafitte.
Lafitte, who’s 28 years old, took the reins at the Bahlabane Ba Ntwa ahead of the start of the season, replacing Abdeslam Ouaddou, who left at the end of the previous season.
The French coach has a record of three wins, three losses, and four draws in his nine Betway Premiership matches with Gallants. The team is currently 10th in the league standings with 13 points.
Ndlondlo, who recently reunited with the club, rejoining from Orlando Pirates, has spoken highly of Lafitte, expressing his belief that the coach has what it takes to guide the club to the top.
“To be honest, I haven’t been finding it easy because it’s my first time working with him but I’m getting used to the tactics that he’s bringing to the team,” Ndlondlo told iDiski Times.
“But some of them I’m familiar with because it’s most of the similar things that I was exposed to under coach [Jose] Riveiro [at Orlando Pirates].
“So, football this time around is a thing that’s shared around among people, whereby the same things are being repeated.
“So, I think over time, I’m getting used to the club and how they play and the culture because it’s not the same as when I left.
“A lot of things have changed for the better, which is a good thing. So, I think [Lafitte] is a good coach and is going to produce wonders just like he has started; he will take this team to the top. And a lot of things are going to show by the good things that he does.”
Lafitte most recently guided Gallants to the CUFA Cup title as they beat fellow Bloemfontein outfit Siwelele 4-3 on penalties at the Toyota Stadium after the match had finished 0-0 in regulation time.
On Sunday afternoon, Marumo beat Chippa United 2-1 in the Betway Premiership to move 10th on the log standings.
