Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou suggesting the early jeers from supporters motivated Tshepang Moremi to his incredible performances in recent weeks.
The 25-year-old has scored five goals already since being lured to the club in the off-season from AmaZulu – where he initially had a frosty reception from supporters at Orlando Stadium after a difficult start to the league campaign.
After two defeats, Pirates have rallied back under Ouaddou with seven consecutive wins and clean sheets, which includes progressing to the second round of the CAF Champions League preliminary qualifiers and the MTN8 title triumph.
“I’m not surprised [about Moremi], for people who believe in working hard daily, they can have a gift, some days after, but you have to always maintain belief in your qualities, you have to work hard, be professional in how you manage your life,” Ouaddou said.
“You have to make sacrifices, we cannot live like normal people, playing every three days – we have to work hard, be careful of the lifestyle, so I’m not surprised, I’m happy for him and all my players called into the national team.
“We have fantastic fans and everywhere in the world when you’re in a big club, there’s a lot of expectations – so I think it was a form of motivation for him as well. We can say the fans push us to be better.
“They are here for that, and we love them, we know they love the players as well, our fans push us to be better every day.”
