Kaizer Chiefs talent Mfundo Vilakazi says the experience gained at the U20 FIFA World Cup was invaluable, that could take him to new heights.
The 19-year-old midfielder was among the standout players for Amajita as they reached the last-16 of the competition as he bagged two assists and a goal in his four games.
With 39 first team appearances for Chiefs since being promoted from their DStv Diski Challenge squad, the mecurial talent is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects for Amakhosi and forms part of their squad heading to DR Congo for the second preliminary round qualifier against AS Simba this weekend.
“The experience in Chile as was very good and I also worked hard and I tried to help the country to win and unfortunately we lost in the last 16 round. But I’m happy with the guys’ [teammates] performance. It was a great experience,” Vilakazi said.
“I gained a lot of experience and learned not to rush some decisions on the pitch; and I think that’s going to help me on my return to the club to help the team, to score goals and to assist.”
Chiefs take on Simba at the Stade TP Mazembe for the first leg tie on Saturday at 15h00.
