Miguel Excited Over Chiefs ‘New Blood’

Kaizer Chiefs could have a debutant this weekend in the CAF Confederation Cup and defender Inacio Miguel admits the new competition is welcomed in the squad.

The likes of Lebogang Maboe, Khanyisa Mayo and Etiosa Ighodaro were all officially registered for their CAF inter-club competitons campaign, with the two South African talents both included in their away trip to DR Congo this weekend.

While Ighodaro still works his way back to full fitness, Mayo and Maboe are expected to play key roles for Chiefs this season, as two vastly experienced players who were secured to bolster their options.

“It’s important that we have this new blood, it’s important for the team to have this competition between us,” Miguel said. 

“[It’s] to make sure nobody is relaxed, no other choice to work hard because there’s guys behind us and can take our place. 

“I’m happy and excited to see Mayo, Lebo and all these new blood we need to perform for the game.”

Chiefs take on AS Simba side in their 1st leg Confederation Cup second preliminary round tie at the Stade TP Mazembe on Saturday (15h00).
