Beganovic Explains Ndamane, Mahlangu Absence

TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic has explained the absence of central defenders Khulamane Ndamane and MacBeth Mahlangu in their 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Galaxy first choice defensive pairing were notable omissions from the game at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday evening which raised questions marks, particularly over Ndamane who has strongly been linked with Masandawana.

There were suggestions before the window closed that Sundowns completed the move for the 21-year-old South Africa international and would spend the season out on loan back at the Rockets.

But Beganovic stated that the players, and Mahlangu both suffered knocks against Stellenbosch and they opted not to risk either player from further injuries.

“Khulumani and Mahlangu, both players got a knock against Stellenbosch, I didn’t want to risk both players, maybe I can put in both and risk them, but then we can get nothing and make a worse situation, lose them for important game for the rest of the year,” Beganovic

“I don’t want to do that, I agreed and talk about that with the medical team, with the technical staff and decieded not to use both players and also we wanted to see the level of the new players, especially the Brazilian and that’s the reason both didn’t play.

“This league is not a sprint, it’s a marathon, we have 19 more games, it’s still a lot and then we have 16 points now, we have to be proud of what we’ve done up until now, if we had more luck we’d have more.

“But I know in the future, if we have a proper pre-season with a full squad, I think we can expect TS Galaxy to be better, but I’m happy with how we’re playing.”
