Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari has undergone a shoulder surgery and will be sidelined for at least two months.
Ntwari, 26, has only played one game for Chiefs this season, with Brandon Petersen preferred as first-choice keeper and taking his chance with both hands.
However, Ntwari did manage to overtake Bruce Bvuma in the race for second place and featured in the Carling Knockout Cup defeat Stellenbosch FC on penalties.
The Rwanda shotstopper famously denied being substituted for Bvuma just before the shootout and despite saving one penalty, Chiefs got knocked out.
Ntwari did not feature in any Chiefs squad since, but was fielded when his national team faced Bafana Bafana in their final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier – going down with pain several times.
And the keeper now finally decided to go under the knife, as confirmed by Rwandan journalist Tuyishime Anastash, who shared an image of Ntwari in hospital.
“Amavubi goalkeeper Ntwari Fiacre underwent shoulder surgery on Tuesday and will be out of action for his club Kaizer Chiefs for two months,” he stated on social media.
Chiefs return to action on 23 November when they will face Egyptian side Al Masry in the first group fixture of the CAF Confederation Cup.
