Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has provided an update on Sihle Nduli’s injury after the midfielder was forced off during their clash against AmaZulu.
The match marked Nduli’s first official appearance since suffering an injury last season — also in Durban.
After spending a lengthy period on the sidelines recovering, the midfielder unfortunately picked up another injury against Usuthu and could not finish the game.
Ouaddou described Nduli’s return to action in Durban as a “surprise gift” for the player, given that he suffered his initial injury in the same city.
The Pirates coach admitted that the club will now wait for further assessment from the medical team, while hoping they have not lost the midfielder to another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
“We had to take him out because unfortunately he could not continue,” said Ouaddou.
“We wanted to give him a gift, you know, if you remember he was injured here in Durban.
“So, really it was a good surprise for him to restart here. And he got injured, we hope it’s not so bad. Now we are going to make some analysis, to go deep in the analysis and actually I cannot give you more update about that.
“We just have to make some exam and we will see. But really I hope that we didn’t lose him again.”
