Kaizer Chiefs winger Asanele Velebayi says the trip to Egypt for his CAF Confederation Cup group stages debut has brought some nerves but will look to the senior players for guidance.
Velebayi, 22, made his long-awaited move to Chiefs as a free agent after Cape Town Spurs relegation to the ABC Motsepe League, but it proved a long-protracted saga which delayed his adaptation for his debut campaign.

However, the winger made his debut in their win over AS Simba that qualified them for the group stages and went on to earn his first start in their 4-1 thrashing over ORBIT College in the league a few days later.
“It’s a big moment for me, my first time travelling in Africa to Egypt, I know it’s going to be a difficult one, but looking forward to it, I have watched their league before and I know it’s difficult, but yeah we’re looking forward to it as a team,” Velebayi said.
“For me, I’ll be honest, I’m a bit nervous, but with the guys in the team, that’s experienced it, the Beeza’s [Petersen], Bruce Bvuma’s, the guys who have played before, they are helping me closely, with them, I have trust in them, so yeah.
“The first thing is not to concede, of course we’re going for the three points, but I think us not conceding, will put us in a better place, so the main thing for us is to win but we don’t want to concede as well.”
“They are a top team, I think they’re at the same level as Al Ahly, which is a top team, so it’s going to be difficult, we’ve watched the videos all week in preparation, so we know it’s going to be difficult.”
