Banyana Banyana striker Thembi Kgatlana has dedicated their title-winning campaign to the Tigres UANL fans after being crowned 2025 Liga MX Femenil champions.
After scoring in the first leg final where Tigres rallied from 3-0 down to claim a pulsating 3-3 draw against Club America, Kgatlana featured again in the second final coming on in the 81st minute as Diana Ordoñez netted the only goal of the match in the 19th minute for a 4-3 aggregate win.
This marked Tigres’ seventh overall Liga MX Femenil title (the most by any team) and it was also their second successive final though they lost it to Monterrey in 2024.
The Banyana forward could not contain her excitement after the final whistle and made mention of the fans who played a huge role in their title-winning season.
“We have the cup after so many challenges,” she said after the match.
“And I think this cup is for them [Tigres fans], for this badge.
“And we go home and celebrate the cup; it’s been a long season. Thank you very much!

After a challenging 2025 which saw the 2022 WAFCON winner take time off from football to focus on her mental wellness, the 29-year-old returned with a bang.
She scored the decisive goal for South Africa in their 2026 WAFCON qualifier against DRC and capped off an impressive season with Tigres with her stats reading eight goals with a single assist in 14 matches.
