Kaizer Chiefs have dropped out of the top eight, while AmaZulu have closed in on leaders Mamelodi Sundowns after Wednesday’s DStv Premiership results.

Amakhosi suffered a surprise defeat to Chippa United earlier today, with the visitors’ 1-0 win bringing the Glamour Boys down to earth following their 2-1 victory over Downs on the weekend.

As a consequence and with Baroka losing 1-0 to TS Galaxy, Chiefs now only sit in ninth position.

Meanwhile, Benni McCarthy’s AmaZulu closed in on one point to log leaders Sundowns following their 5-1 thrashing of McCarthy’s former side Cape Town City. Usuthu are the in-form team in the league and collected 47 points after 25 games.

Masandawana, however, still have two games in hand and could add to their total tally of 48 points. Their goalless draw with Lamontville Golden Arrows, though, has put the DStv Premiership title race wide open.
