Tso: Pirates Will Catch Benni

Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi has made the bold statement that his former side Orlando Pirates will still catch in-form AmaZulu and coach Benni McCarthy on the DStv Premiership log.

The Buccaneers legend discussed the race for second spot in the Premiership in his iDiski Times column this week.

Pirates currently sit in fourth place on the log, eight points behind second-placed Usuthu, having played two games less than AmaZulu and Golden Arrows in third position.

However, Tso believes that his former side will still catch AmaZulu and book their spot in next season’s CAF Champions League campaign.

“South Africa has two slots for the competition; in my opinion Mamelodi Sundowns will definitely take the one spot as champions, meaning there is only one other spot left for four teams,” he writes in iDsiki Times.

“Golden Arrows, AmaZulu, Orlando Pirates and Swallows FC are in it with a chance to qualify for the Champions League if any of them secures second place.

“Pirates have a really good team. What will let them down is their technical team because they have all the tools to get to the Champions League.

“They still have tough matches remaining, like Sundowns, but overall, they have a strong team.

“Verdict: Pirates will qualify for the CAF Champions League.”

Pirates face log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday, while Golden Arrows and AmaZulu will go head-to-head on Saturday already.
