Kaizer Chiefs have secured the future of young defender Aden McCarthy, with the centre-back signing a new two-year contract, with an option to extend.
The 22-year-old has been a consistent presence in the Amakhosi defensive setup this season, stepping up following the long-term injury absence of Rushwin Dortley to feature alongside the likes of Inácio Miguel, Given Msimango, and Zitha Kwinika.

McCarthy is a product of the academy system and has been part of the Chiefs setup since July 2022, continuing a family connection with the Soweto giants — his father, Fabian McCarthy, also represented the Glamour Boys during his playing career.
The left-footed centre-back has also represented South Africa at U23 level, underlining his standing as one of the most promising young defenders in the Betway Premiership.
The new deal represents a significant show of faith from Amakhosi who have relied on McCarthy to fill a key role in the backline during a demanding season for the club.
His initial deal was due to expire at the end of the current season but with interest rising in his services abroad – talks over his future may still be on during the upcoming off-season.
Overall, McCarthy has made 25 appearances for Amakhosi across all competitions this season, scoring two goals.
