Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze admitted that Glody Lilepo’s sensational winning goal against Marumo Gallants has lifted pressure of the shoulders of the DR Congo winger.
Lilepo, 28, was amongst the marquee signings of the club in recent years, in a reported R9-million transfer from French club Valenciennes.
He became an instant fan favourite with his direct running and attack-minded style of play, but goals have been scarce in the league, with the stunner last night, his first since the opening day of the season, where they beat Stellenbosch 2-0 in the Western Cape.
“We’re happy with the three points and what a goal [from Lilepo], what a goal, it’s not a goal that you see everyday,” Kaze said in the post-match press conference.
“I’m happy for Lilepo, that he scored that goal because after his injury against AS Simba, he was slowly coming back and there was some pressure on him in recent weeks but he responded well.
“We know he’s a big player that can make a difference.”
Overall, Lilepo has scored 10 goals with one assist in 36 games for Amakhosi across all competitions.
