Kaze Makes Promise As Chiefs Form Continues

Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze is confident the squad will produce more goals in the coming weeks as several players return from full fitness.

Chiefs have started the second half of the season with four consecutive 1-0 wins in all competitions, putting them in firm place for a genuine title race and in contention to qualify to the knockout stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

And ahead of their Nedbank Cup opener against struggling Stellenbosch, with whom they have had the upper hand over in recent encounters, Kaze was asked about their lack of goals this season.

“The lack of goals, I will put in context, when we started the second phase of the league and towards the end of the first phase, we had many injuries and important offensive players like Lilepo, Sirino and when you have your best offensive players injured, you take a blow,” Kaze explained.

“But I’m pretty sure with the games progressing, we will get better, we will get better, we have players coming back from injury; George Matlou, Thabo Cele, Ox, Cross, and these players will add quality we need.

“Sometimes you can’t rotate too much, even Ighodaro is injured but we expect him to be here in the next two weeks, we can’t rotate the offensive players when there’s not many choices, but we expect to do better in the next weeks as the players come back.”

Chiefs face Stellenbosch tomorrow in the Western Cape with kickoff scheduled for 19h00.
