Veteran tactician Pitso Mosimane has broken his silence on speculation linking him with a return to Mamelodi Sundowns, leaving the door open for a potential move back to the PSL.
Mosimane has been unattached since January 2025, when he parted ways with Iranian Pro League outfit Esteghlal FC.
Recently, he has been heavily linked with a return to Sundowns, who have struggled for consistency this season under the leadership of Miguel Cardoso, with reports suggesting that the Portuguese coach himself could be on his way out.
Frustrations among supporters have occasionally boiled over, with Sundowns fans chanting Mosimane’s name at the stadium after matches when results did not go in the team’s favour.
Addressing the speculation, Mosimane admitted that he has seen the calls for his return. “It’s possible, why not?” he said, leaving the door open to a potential reunion with the club where he previously enjoyed immense success.
He also reflected on his experience coaching abroad, explaining that a return to local football would require a mental adjustment.
“I’ve seen those on social media, I’ve seen that,” said Mosimane during the inter with SMWX Podcast.
“Look, it’s possible, never say never in life. I was laughing when I saw Mike Tyson going back to boxing.
“[Floyd] Mayweather came back, George Foreman came back. I don’t know, but yes it is possible. Why not?
“It’s just that sometimes, I need to also stay a little bit humble and contribute because when you go to [CAF] Champions League finals, you win three.
“You go to the FIFA Club World Cup and bring bronze medals as third best team in the world, two times against Bayern [Munich] and all these clubs, that tournament is the biggest.
“You need to shift [the mind], calm down and ‘This is home now’.”
