Monyane Hits Back Over Kung-Fu Kick

Kaizer Chiefs defender Thabiso Monyane has warned that the next time he attempts an acrobatic effort at goal, there shouldn’t be surprises if he scores.

Monyane was in a bouyant mood on Monday afternoon at the Village, as Chiefs hosted the media ahead of their home game against Stellenbosch at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

The striker-turned-wing-back was subject of banter for several weeks online after he missed a scissors kick effort completely against Stellenbosch, which was turned into memes on social media.

However, the former Orlando Pirates man seemed to take the humorous side of the situation; “I mean it’s football, it happens, if it went in it was going to be a lovely goal and everyone would have been celebrating it.

“But a wise person once said to me; if you’re going try and fail, you must fail big You will know if you go in to accomplish it, and then people will say yeah it was a great one… but for me it’s a learning and for sure.

“I’m capable, more than than capable of that – don’t be shocked if it goes in next time, don’t be shocked.”

Amakhosi and Stellies do battle in a repeat of the last-32 Nedbank Cup clash that took place earlier this month at 19h30 at the Calabash.
