New Mamelodi Sundowns winger Monnapule Saleng has expressed his excitement and singled out head coach Miguel Cardoso and captain Themba Zwane after his impressive debut.
The 27-year-old was a shock mid-season signing for Sundowns from Orlando Pirates after spending the first six months of the season on loan at his former club ORBIT College.

For a player that was the PSL Players’ Player of the Season a couple of years ago, to his fallout at the club, the move to Sundowns was unexpected on many front, but a deal that brought wave of optimism to the Masandawana faithful.
On Sunday, he received a cameo from the bench and helped set-up Iqraam Rayners goal that put Sundowns 2-1 ahead over Sekhukhune United, in their eventual 3-1 victory that put them level on points with league leaders, and his former club, Pirates.
“I want to thank the coach, technical team and the players, the preparation was good – since training and coming into the game and I need to thank [Miguel Cardoso] was giving me the opportunity to play today,” Saleng said to Sundowns media.
“The fans made me feel welcome; it’s been a while since they’ve seen me play. I was happy and I appreciate the reception from the supporters. I’d also like to thank the captain Themba Zwane and all the player for encouraging me in training.
“I just want to continue winning, that’s the only thing I want us to do and that’s the most important thing. It feels good for me – this is a team that always strives to win.
“I’m happy to be able to contribute amongst the three goals that were scored. It shows that I also have something to offer this team going forward.”
Saleng has two goals and four assists in 13 games in the 2025/26 season so far.
