It proved to be a relatively quiet weekend for South African footballers plying their trade abroad as most couldn’t make decisive impact for their respective clubs.
In Libya, Thembinkosi Lorch played the full 90 minutes for Al Ittihad as they were held to a goalless draw by Olympic Azzawiya. The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has enjoyed a promising start at his new club, registering two goals and one assist in his first five appearances since completing his move during the recent transfer window.

In England, Lyle Foster featured for 66 minutes as Burnley FC were held to a 0-0 draw by Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Elsewhere in England, Luke Le Roux remained on the bench as Portsmouth FC suffered a 2-1 defeat to Swansea City in the Championship. In the same division, Tylon Smith was an unused substitute as Queens Park Rangers secured a 3-1 victory over Leicester City.
In Germany’s Bundesliga 2, Ime Okon was also an unused substitute for Hannover 96 as they played to a 2-2 draw against Schalke 04.
In Belgium, Shandre Campbell did not travel with Club Brugge as they claimed a 2-1 away victory over Westerlo in the Jupiler Pro League.
Over in Denmark, Gift Links completed the full match as Aarhus GF settled for a 1-1 draw against Sonderjyske in the Superliga.
In Cyprus, Luther Singh played 63 minutes while fellow South African Thapelo Maseko featured for 79 minutes for AEL Limassol, who fell to a 2-1 defeat against Omonia Aradippou.
Meanwhile in Austria, Antonio van Wyk played 46 minutes and Yusuf Maart 74 minutes as their side Ried secured a 2-1 victory over Tirol.
In Saudi Arabia, Elias Mokwana played 78 minutes as Al Hazem recorded a 2-1 win over Al Kholood. However, Mohau Nkota was once again left out of the Al Ettifaq squad as they lost 1-0 to Al Fayha.
In the USA Major League Soccer, Mbekezeli Mbokazi played the full 90 minutes for Chicago Fire FC in their 2-1 defeat to DC United, while teammate Puso Dithejane remained an unused substitute.
Elsewhere in the United States, Bongokuhle Hlongwane featured for 45 minutes as Minnesota United FC suffered a heavy 6-0 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps.
Finally, Olwethu Makhanya continued his regular run for Philadelphia Union, playing the full match in their 3-1 defeat to Atlanta United.
