Al Ittihad officially unveiled Rulani Mokwena as their new head coach alongside his South African technical team in Tripoli, Libya on Wednesday afternoon.
Mokwena was lured to the Libyan giants with a lucrative offer that reportedly more than doubled his earning with MC Alger, who are on course to retain the Algerian Ligue 1 title with nine games to go.
During his eight months with MCA, Mokwena won the Algerian Super Cup, and was set a target of reaching the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League where they fell short in the group stage.
While there was optimism around the project, the lure of the money-spinning investment on the continent to challenge for the Champions League appeared too good to refuse and Mokwena has now arrived with Snethemba Badela (assistant), Wendell Robinson (assistant and goalkeeper coach), Sbu Makitla (performance analyst), Said El Nahhas (video analyst) and Thabiso ‘Thaso’ Moshane (Sports scientist).

There will be a clear target to win the league in Libya, who currently top Group 2, of the four-split leagues of the Libyan Premier League which goes into a play-off system after the end of the league rounds.
