CT City Confirm Witbooi Injury Blow

Cape Town City have confirmed that teenage sensation Emile Witbooi has suffered an injury setback.

Witbooi (17) was among six of the club’s young talents called up to represent the SA U20 & U17 national squads.

Joshua Taylor, Sive Pama, Abulele Dlekedla, Bokamoso Mokokosi, Sithenkosi Sisulu are the other five players called up while Witbooi has now been forced to withdraw due to injury.

While the club did not reveal the exact injury or how long he will be sidelined, the Betway Premiership hopefuls will be eager to have him back sooner rather than later as they chase promotion back to the elite league.

“Emile Witbooi was called up but had to withdraw due to injury. Wishing him a speedy recovery,” the club said on X.

The Citizens currently find themselves in fifth spot on the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings just three points behind table-toppers Milford FC.

Jan Vreman’s charges take on bottom dwellers Black Leopards on Tuesday, April 7, with Lidoda Duvha still within a chance to save themselves from relegation.
