Ex-Bafana Midfielder Lands Job In Europe

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Michael Masilo Modubi has been appointed head coach of Belgian club Turkse FC for the 2026/27 season.

Modubi, 40, is a product of the Transnet School of Excellence and landed a move to Premier League side Chelsea back in 2003 alongside the late duo of Boy-Boy Mosia and Jeffrey Ntuka.

All three failed to secure work-permits at the time and were loaned out to KVC Westerlo, and while the latter duo returned to South Africa later in their careers, Modubi spent nine years at the club before stints at Dessel Sport and Witgoor Dessel – where he ended his career in 2017.

After working in the development coaching side, Modubi landed a senior role with KESK Leopoldsburg in the Belgian third tier, where he led them to the promotion play-offs – before his eventual exit.

Now, according to FARPost, Modubi is back in the dugout with Turkse FC where he will look to build his promising coaching career in Belgium.

The midfielder was capped twice by the senior national team back in 2009 under then head coach Joel Natalino Santana.
