Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Maboe was humble as he collected his third successive Man of the Match award at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Monday.
Maboe was instrumental as Chiefs came from a goal down to defeat relegation threatened Orbit College 3-1 in Gqeberha.
Amakhosi also moved up to third position on the Betway Premiership log with 39 points with two games in hand, while the newcomers remained second from bottom with 18 points, having played two more matches than Magesi FC who are at the bottom with 14 points.
Maboe admitted his side didn’t start the game well, however said they kept believing they’d get back into the game. The former Mamelodi Sundowns man gave credit to his teammates for the fight on the night, calling himself just a mere recipient of the individual accolade.
“I’m very excited with the performance,” said Maboe on SuperSport TV.
“We didn’t start well in the first 20 minutes but I’m proud of the team. You know we kept on fighting we never gave up. And I think most importantly we kept pushing and believing that we are going to turn this game around.
“I’m just a mere recipient of this award. This goes to the hard work we’ve been putting in with the team, helping one another, all pulling in the same direction. And I just happened to receive the award but great, great work by my teammates.
“I think we all knew that we didn’t start the game well. It was a matter of just saying hey gents let’s wake up, let’s just get that first goal and once we get the first goal we are going to keep pushing to get a second goal and then a third goal.
“I think we noticed they were getting a bit tired in the second half. So we just told ourselves that let’s not give up, let’s just keep on wanting more and just keep on demanding more from one another and great, great team work out there.”
